6 Fantasy Football Draft Values: MFL Leagues (2024) (2024)

While the 2024 NFL regular season is months away, now is the time to start preparing for fantasy football redraft leagues. Many factors go into fantasy football players winning their redraft league every year. However, the top factor is drafting players at a value.

Let’s look at six of my favorite fantasy football draft values based on MyFantasyLeague average draft position (ADP) for redraft leagues.

Fantasy Football Draft Values: MFL Leagues

Kirk Cousins (QB – ATL)

  • MFL ADP – QB25

The veteran has been productive for fantasy players despite averaging only 6.4 rushing yards per game in his career. Furthermore, Cousins has consistently been a low-end QB1 since becoming a full-time starter in 2015. While he is coming off a torn Achilles, Cousins should be 100% healthy for Week 1. The veteran has an outstanding receiving core in Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooneyand Bijan Robinson. Furthermore, he plays most of his games indoors and against suspect defenses this year. Cousins could have a top-five finish.

Joe Mixon (RB – HOU)

  • MFL ADP – RB19

While Mixon hasn’t been the most efficient running back, the veteran has had three consecutive top-12 finishes in half-point PPR scoring. Some are concerned that Mixon won’t see the same volume in Houston that he had with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, that won’t be the case. Last year, the Texans’ backfield averaged 22 touches per contest. Furthermore, Devin Singletary was the RB9 from Week 10 through Week 18 as the featured guy, averaging 19.4 touches and 13.2 fantasy points per game. Mixon will remain a low-end RB1 in Houston.

James Conner (RB – ARI)

  • MFL ADP – RB29

The knock against Conner is his injury history, having missed four games in back-to-back seasons. He has never finished lower than the RB10 since joining Arizona on a points-per-game basis in half-point PPR scoring. Last year, the veteran had the fourth-highest explosive run rate (6.3%) and the third-highest missed forced tackle per rushing attempt among running backs with at least 150 attempts (per Fantasy Points Data). While the Cardinals spent a third-round pick on Trey Benson, the rookie won’t replace Conner as the starter in 2024.

Amari Cooper (WR – CLE)

  • MFL ADP – WR33

Cleveland started five quarterbacks last year. Yet, Cooper was the WR18, averaging more half-point PPR fantasy points per game (12.7) than Davante Adams, Michael Pittman Jr.and Jaylen Waddle. Furthermore, the veteran was outstanding playing with any quarterback besides Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Cooper averaged 15.1 fantasy points per game in the 12 contests he played that Thompson-Robinson didn’t start, which would have made him the WR6 on a points-per-game basis. Cooper should get drafted as a WR2, not a WR3 or flex option, despite the arrival of Jerry Jeudy.

Christian Kirk (WR – JAX)

  • MFL ADP – WR38

The last time Kirk was Trevor Lawrence’s go-to wide receiver, he ended the year as the WR11, averaging 11.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, the veteran was the WR16, averaging 11.7 fantasy points per game from Week 2 through Week 12, despite Calvin Ridley seeing a 20% target per route run rate during those contests last year (per Fantasy Points Data). With Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. challenging defenses downfield, expect Kirk to see plenty of easy targets in the middle of the field.

Jake Ferguson (TE – DAL)

  • MFL ADP – TE11

My draft plan at tight end this year is to draft and stud in the first few rounds or wait to pick Ferguson. He was the TE9 in his first season as the starter, averaging 10.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. More importantly, Ferguson was the clear-cut No. 2 guy, ranking second on the team in receptions (71), targets (102), and receiving yards (761) in 2023. He should have a larger role this upcoming season after the Cowboys lost Michael Gallup and Tony Pollard in the offseason.

How to calculate auction values in fantasy football? ›

Once you establish replacement levels, you can calculate a value score by taking the projected fantasy points total of the replacement-level player and subtracting that from each player's projected fantasy points total.

What is the ideal number of teams for fantasy football? ›

A typical league is 10 or 12 teams in size and drafts in a snake-like manner, but leagues can be larger or smaller, ranging anywhere from four to 18 teams. I've even seen 32-team leagues and leagues where players may be rostered on up to four different teams.

How small can a fantasy football league be? ›

That's not a novel concept. Except, sometimes, the most passionate among us forget how customizable this game can be. For example, 10 or 12 teams aren't required to create a league. In fact, the next two most common league sizes ESPN fantasy football enthusiasts play are eight- and four-teamers.

What is the standard fantasy football auction budget? ›

Fantasy managers have to construct a team using budgets of typically $100 to $200.

How much to spend on Justin Jefferson auction draft? ›

One way is to tier players and not bid on the first player in the tier. In a league where everyone is auctioning the right way (stars or bust), Justin Jefferson goes for $75 out of a $200 budget. Maybe you let him go and get Ja'Marr Chase for less.

Can you have 7 teams in fantasy football? ›

7-Team Playoffs

With a 7-Team playoff, your league can mimic the Pros by awarding a Bye-week to only the One-seed. If you have playoff reseeding enabled, second round matchups will be adjusted so the highest seeded team will play the lowest ranked team.

How does a 6 team playoff work in fantasy football? ›

6 team playoff system, week options, and consolation teams

The top 6 teams in the league standings at end of the regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion. The next 4 teams (or the next 6 for 12+ team leagues) in rank play consolation rounds for 7th-10th or 7-12th place.

How many teams can you have in a fantasy league? ›

Ten teams is the traditional size of most leagues. The player pool is deep enough that each team has stars, but managers will still have the challenge of picking up free agents and players who are getting hot. For a greater challenge, try using 12 or 14 teams.

How many players can you have on your fantasy football team? ›

First you draft your team, which means selecting (usually) 16 players. These are real pro football players who are top-dogs at their positions. Imagine an all-star season of your favourite reality show: only the best are worthy.
